SADIYA organises two or three yoga days each year, and in addition there are many other workshops and special events throughout the area. Here you can find out what Iyengar yoga events are happening locally and link to more information.

Workshop for Beginners and All with Pascale Vacher

These ‘monthly’ classes focus mainly on standing postures which aim to build up strength, flexibility and stamina. They also include the practice of supine and seated postures as well as Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) and introduce Sirsasana (headstand).
They are open to all Iyengar yoga students regularly attending beginners or general level classes. Please ask if unsure.
These longer sessions complement a regular usual class, giving a bit more time to explore and deepen understanding of Introductory level asanas. They may also help consolidate a budding home practice.

Uday taught at the Pune Iyengar Institute for over 15 years and is currently based in the UK. His teaching is dynamic, accessible and welcoming and will be enjoyed by all students. Uday also has a wonderful sense of humour which brings a great atmosphere to his workshops. The Sheffield Yoga Centre team are delighted he will share his experience of teaching a wide range of people, including sportspeople, children and therapy students.

The Professional Development Day for IY (UK) teachers in 2017 covers “Adjustment and help for older and stiffer students ” and “Ropes and safety”.
SADIYA and BDIYII are holding two PD Days in 2017, each with an upper limit of 20 places. Both venues have ropes for at least 10 participants, so this way everyone will get good access to the ropes during the days. The cost per person is higher than usual as we are limiting numbers to 20 per day to ensure good access to the ropes. For this reason, the cost of the day is higher than usual.
The workshop is suitable for all levels of certificated Iyengar Yoga teachers.

Alan has practised Iyengar Yoga for 38 years and became an Iyengar Yoga teacher in 1987. He now holds a Senior Intermediate level 3 Iyengar Yoga teaching certificate. Alan have received tuition from BKS Iyengar, Geeta Iyengar and Prashant Iyengar on numerous occasions. He teaches regular yoga classes for all levels of practitioner from beginners to experienced students in Yorkshire and Lancashire and leads workshops in the UK and internationally. The day is in two parts:
* 10.00am to 12.30pm Open for students who have practiced yoga for at least 3 years
* 1.30pm to 4.00pm - Teachers development session open to all qualified Iyengar yoga teachers preparing for Junior assessments at all levels , as well as Introductory and Junior Intermediate teachers interested in exploring Junior Intermediate work. Learn to become a more effective teacher. Sharpen your abilities to instruct clearly, observe your students, and recognise and address problems.
Pre-registration is required.

Elise is based in California and acclaimed for her work in adapting classical poses to help both herself and others.
As a founding director of the California Yoga Center in Mountain View and Palo Alto, CA, Elise teaches classes and workshops specializing in back and sports-related injuries and is a faculty member at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco.
Elise has successfully used yoga to minimize the effects of her own scoliosis and sees clients privately with scoliosis and other back related problems. She has published numerous articles on scoliosis and other yoga related subjects in Yoga Journal and other national magazines. Elise has studied on numerous occasions with B.K.S. Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar in India. She has produced the Yoga for Scoliosis DVD and booklet.

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2018, we shall be running a restorative yoga workshop for women.
Helen will be teaching a restful afternoon of supported poses and focused breathing thatHelen kneeling will help your body and mind benefit from deep relaxation. Following a popular restorative workshop last year, Helen brings stillness and gentle asanas to the Centre again for this calming class. All profits from this workshop will go to an international Women’s charity (details tbc).
In keeping with International Women’s Day, we’ll be practicing on purple mats. We invite you to wear purple too!”
