Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees.

The Sheffield And District Iyengar Yoga Association, or SADIYA, is one of many associations and institutes around the world that bring together Iyengar Yoga practitioners.

Iyengar Yoga is taught in various venues across the Sheffield area. Each venue holds weekly classes as well as special workshops. Find out more about these on this site.

NEWS: Volunteers Needed – Iyengar Yoga Teacher Junior Intermediate Assessment - March 2017

The Manchester and District Institute of Iyengar Yoga (MDIIY), and the Sheffield Yoga Centre (SYC) are looking for volunteers to be the students for the teaching part of the Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training assessments.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about how our teachers are assessed and to get an insight into the teacher training process. Please contact the venues direct (contact details below) to volunteer.
To volunteer for Introductory Assessments, you
  • have been attending classes regularly for at least 5 years (if possible at an intermediate level)
  • are able to practise Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) and Sirsasana (head balance) - against the wall, or in the centre of the room and be willing to be helped up into these two poses
  • be free from injury (stiffness is fine but no injuries).
If you are unsure if you can volunteer or don’t know which assessment to volunteer for then ask your regular teacher.
Details are available on SYC Volunteers-for-Junior-Assessments-March-2017.pdf and MDIIY Volunteers-for-Junior-Assessments-March-2017.pdf

Discover Iyengar Yoga

The Iyengar style of yoga has a particular emphasis on body alignment and is characterised by its precision and attention to detail. Through the practice of asanas, or poses, it aims to unite the body, mind and spirit for health and well-being.

Learn about SADIYA
